Repainting Your Car on Your Own

Using colours can enhance aspects of our lives and add life to our many items like handicraft products, cars, and toys, among other things. Also, our appetite is stimulated when the food served are colourful. People who knit or crochet use coloured yarns to produce products of different hues. Among the many interesting yarns to use are the hand-dyed ones like those sold in the Hand Dyed Haven website. These hand-dyed yarns have an interesting blend of colours that will create amazing products from your knitting or crocheting project.

Speaking of hand-dyed yarns, did you know that you can repaint your car by yourself? Repainting can give your vehicle a new image. However, having someone to do it for you can be expensive especially when you prefer a customised work.

Before anything else, thoroughly clean your vehicle with a good wax and degreaser. Afterwards, cover areas that you do not want painted like bumpers, door handles, mirrors, lights and windows. Then, using a dual-action orbital sander, remove the old car paint. Also, repair or replace any damaged car parts.  Finally, wipe your car from dust and residue caused by sanding.

When repainting, utilise a car primer to help the new paint to stick to your vehicle. You will then have to sand the primer after it has dried to even it out. Then, coat your car once again with the primer and sand it off for a smoother finish. By this time, it is necessary to remove your masking and wash the car to prepare it for finishing touches. After the car has dried, mask the car and wipe it off again. Finally, spray the base coat of paint and then the top coat on your car.
